BioStar 2 - My finger is not recognized - Recognition Tips

Within a large group of people there will always be several users facing difficulties with the recognition of their finger. (Usually 1 or 2 people out of 100). Our experience is that this can be properly addressed with a little extra care, this document provides you with several tips to increase the recognition:

  • Please make sure the finger is placed on the sensor correcly. This is very important for the recognition of the finger. Make sure your finger is placed flat and straight over the entire sensor surface.
  • Find out which finger gives the best response. If the index-finger is not recognized properly please try enrolling your middle- or ringfinger.
  • Enroll the same finger several times. For example, if a user works with his / her right index finger then try to read this same 4 times.
  • You can also try enrolling the fingers by using one of the scanners on the wall instead of the BioMini. By using the devices mounted on the wall you make sure that they always place the finger in exactly the same way as they normally do when using the system.

If the finger still can’t be recognized after following these tips you can always issue a card for this user. There will always be 1 or 2 users who can not be registered properly and have to register by card.

Is there still no recognition after following these tips? Want to know how to register a card?
